an update on my trip to Washington, D.C. Here are some highlights.
- I got to visit the Holocaust Museum. I've been wanting to see this attraction for some time, and was excited to finally get the opportunity.
- We hit the National Archives, where we got a close-up look at the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and various other documents that have greatly influenced our country.
- A former NGU student who now works in the White House gave us a tour of the West Wing.
- We got to see, first-hand, just how efficient the Secret Service agents who work at the White House are... someone tried to assault one of them and they swarmed. I know for sure (as if I didn't know before) that I will never mess with any of these guys.
- I got to take in the major monuments lit up at night...breathtaking.
- We got a tour of Jim DeMint's office and the Capitol Building from one of the senator's interns.
- We visited the Newseum. I had actually never heard of this attraction before plans for this trip came about, but it was really neat. The museum basically chronicles the history of media and the news. We had a private lecture from a very knowledgeable professor on media's impact on politics. Then we had some time to peruse the artifacts and exhibits.
- While at the Newseum, I came upon an exhibit that actually featured part of the Berlin Wall. It was incredible to see the different media perspectives on the event of it's falling, and the sight will stay with me for some time. Great experience!
- I saw the Lincoln and Vietnam memorials up close.
- And, I met and got to hang out with new people.

I love the city, the weather was great, and I can't wait to visit again soon!
